I have a great tutorial about adding glitter to mugs that I made for my son’s teacher last year. You can find that tutorial here. I got really excited to use this tutorial again when I saw some sets of Christmas candles in plain glass containers. I am so excited to show you the results! I have a video that I’ll post here, but I also want to write out the steps so you can get both!
The list of supplies you’ll need:- Mod Podge (go to Shop My Craft Room for links)
- Glitter- I used fine white glitter this time around
- Candles with the stickers taken off the front
- Foam brush
- Ribbon
- Scissors
- Masking Tape
- Paper to glitter over
I took my candles and put the masking tape around the candle so I could get a good line with the Mod Podge. Then I used the foam brush to spread the Mod Podge on to the glass.
After I got the Mod Podge on, I sprinkled the glitter all over the outside and when I set the candle down I tapped it on the counter so the extra glitter would fall off. I love the look the white glitter gave because it looks frosty like snow!
In my other tutorial I did another layer of Mod Podge over the top. When I used the fine glitter, I didn’t really like second layer of Mod Podge. It just made the glitter move and I liked the light frosty look.
Since I decided to not do more coats of Mod Podge, I got to skip to the fun part early! I got to add the ribbon! I picked a black and white striped ribbon from Michaels and I just tied a simple knot and cut the ends at an angle. I LOVE this option! I also added some plain string to some of the candles and I really like it too! I think they look so cute for Christmas!
I think I am going to give some out to my friends for gifts and save some for my Christmas Mantel!
