Lost Sock Wood Sign

I got a call from my awesome friend, Shana this week and she wanted a sign to go in her laundry room. I am ALWAYS up for making a new wood sign! Shana had the idea to make a sign for lost socks! I have seen a few that are similar, but I made it more unique by designing the letters to look more hand-stamped like another sign in her laundry room. I hate doing laundry, but maybe if I had a cute laundry room I’d like it more!

The first step was to pick a board. I decided to use a 12″ board that I had leftover from another project. I knew it would be perfect!

Second, I took it outside and used some Varathane Aged Wood Accelerator in brown on the board. They had a grey one at the store that looked cute too! You’ll also see in the picture, I like to use old socks with holes when I stain wood! I think it works the best!

Before Stain
After the Stain. It looks so good!!! I just love LOVE love this stuff!

I only had to wait 30 minutes for it to dry and I could bring it inside and add the vinyl!

I went into Silhouette Studio and designed the sign. Then I cut it in white vinyl, weeded it, and put the transfer paper over the top.

Excise my ugly counter top! I’m crossing my fingers to get new ones soon!

Then I put the vinyl on the board and pulled out some clothes pins to put on the bottom (to hold the lost socks). I took the clothes pins apart, put them down on the board, and drilled through the pin into the board.

After that, I took some screws and attached one half of the clothes pin. A few of the clothes pins split, so if you want to do this project make sure you have a few extra just in case!

All that was left now was to put the second half of the clothes pins on and hang it on the wall! Shana chose the cutest color of blue for her laundry room! I love the color and the wood stain together!

Is there anything you would do different? Would a sign like this help you get a little more laundry done? Follow me and leave a comment! I would love to hear from you!
