How I Got Started with Lasers
In 2021, I started seeing ads for the Glowforge. I had never even heard of lasers before, but the project ideas they showed really caught my attention! At the time, I was already designing SVG files for my Silhouette Cameo, and a laser felt like the perfect way to add dimension to my designs and try out some exciting new projects. When I researched the Glowforge, the reviews looked amazing. My husband and I searched for competitors, but there wasn’t much information out there about other at-home lasers.
So, I bought one. After joining some Facebook groups, though, I quickly realized not everyone was as thrilled with their Glowforge as I expected. I saw posts about unexpected issues—fires, problems with venting, and people using the wrong materials. Some features that were marketed as possible weren’t actually realistic with the type of machine they had purchased. I also discovered that many small business owners were disappointed at how quickly they outgrew their machines and needed to upgrade.
